How do I place an ad?
To place an ad on the Guppies.com Classifieds you must be a registered user. To register, click on PLACE AN AD on the top or bottom menu bar. You will need to fill out this form to become a registered user. Once you are a registered user, you can login using your username and password that you created while registering. After you have logged in, click on PLACE AD on the top or bottom menu bar, and then proceed to fill out the ad form.

Our system is designed to be automatic. Placing an ad is fast and easy, just follow on the online forms. If you would like for us to place the ad for you, please send an e-mail to richard@guppys.com to request this service. There is an additional $10 charge for this service. Before sending this email, however, you will need to determine the duration of your listing, any extra features you want added, plus the $10 extra charge and make your payment to PayPal. Your ad must be paid for in advance before we process your information. Your listing will be posted after your payment has been received, and you will be notified by email directly from your classified listing. Photos have to be added at the time your listing is submitted. Your payment for an email submitted classified ad can be made directly to PAYPAL from Guppies.com.

My photos won't load. I think they are too large. How do I resize them?
Many photos acquired using a digital camera or a scanner may be too large for use at Guppies.com Classifieds. They must be resized first. You can go to http://www.resize2mail.com to resize your photos online (select the 600 x 450 or 450 x 600 option).

I forgot to add my photos when I placed my ad. Can I add them now?
All photos must be added when your ad is placed, as clearly stated in our ad process. We can, however, manually resubmit your listing to add photos, if within the first 10 days of your listing. There is an additional service charge of $1, plus the cost of the photos. If more than 10 days have passed from the time you placed your ad, you will need to delete your listing and pay for a new ad in order to add your photos.

Do I have to fill out forms online?
No. Just e-mail your text and photos to us at Richard@guppies.com. There is now an additional $10 charge for this service. Please read the paragraph above for more details. If you have a website describing your guppies, or other information, just e-mail us the URL, and we will pick up the information from there.
A good reason to register and post your own text and photos: If you enter your text and photos, you can go in on your own, any time and make changes. If we do it for you, we will assign you a username and password, you'll pay an extra $10, and then we'll email you when your listing is active.

How long will it take for my ad to appear live?
The Guppies.com Classifieds uses PHP and MySQL databases that create your ad instantly. Once your PayPal payment has been received, your listing will be active (usually within a few minutes). If you are sending us a check or money order, as soon as your payment has been received in our office, your listing will be approved and added to our database. You will be notified by email when your listing has become active. The info you provided us for your ad will be held for 30 days and then automatically discarded, if no payment has been received.

Can I change the way my ad displays information?
No. Our forms relate with our database, and therefore our ad templates cannot be changed.

What copy style should I use?
We suggest only using all capital letters in the title only. Titles are also used in part of the subject line of all e-mail sent to the owner. If you don't like the way your listing looks, you can always change it.

What type of images should I use?
We suggest using high quality images that are compressed for easy download. Acceptable formats include GIF, JPEG, JPG. We now allow up to 15 images and a total size limit, depending on how long you have chosen to advertise, of 60000 bytes or approximately 60KB. Photos are best provided at 72 dpi, and sized no larger than 5x5 inches. You can use Windows Explorer in the Detail view to see the size of your image. Most computers come with a Paint program which will easily allow you to size your images. You can reduce that size of your images for FREE at http://www.resize2mail.com.If you need help, you can always send the photos and text for your listing to us and we will size your images for you. There is an additional $10 charge for this service. If you do not have a scanned image, send your listing (text and photo) by US mail and we will digitize for you. Then you can download the image in your listing so that you'll have a digitized image in the future. PLEASE NOTE THAT CLASSIFIED ADS WITH PHOTOS RECEIVE 3 TIMES THE VIEWERS!

How much does an ad cost?
A basic ad with no photos is $12 for 3 months. Photos are $1 each. All other features are "a la carte", that is, extra features can be added to your listing, if you'd like. You may choose to add bolding, better placement, or a featured listing. You may add as many as 15 photos to your listing at $1 each.

What forms of payment are accepted?
We accept Paypal at this time.

How can I make changes to my ad?
To make changes to your ad, login and click "my active ads" on the user menu. Click "edit" then your ad information will appear. Scroll to the bottom of the ad and click the appropriate edit link. Please note to edit images you may have to delete one first before entering a new one. Once you have completed editing your ad click on the link "my active ad".

How will visitors contact me?
Visitors will be able to contact you through the "Seller / Send a Message to Seller" link on your listing.

What should I write to better sell my guppies? Any advice?
For guppy listings provide as much basic information as possible, breed, gender, color, age, your location, price, size, awards, etc.
The more key information you provide in the body of your listing, the better your classified will show up in the searches. Remember, though, the whole purpose of an ad is to provide just enough information to interest someone enough so that they will contact you to learn more.
