Are guppies cold water or tropical fish?

Hi. I'm thinking of adding guppies to my cold water aquarium, but are they tropical fish?

Guppies can handle temperatures between about 68F (20C) and 86F(30C).
mid temp is best, that is why you will occasionally see guppys in the cold water section.
If you plan to breed, you need to be higher in that range for the fry.
    Hope that helped
Now mum to 47 Mollies, as well as my Gups

Yes, they are a tropical fish and prefer water temperatures in the upper 70's. Wild guppies come mostly from central and northern south america. However most guppies today come from people that breed them .... Paul
